The whole staff were genuinely lovely and friendly, and the great food made the holiday memorable for all the right reasons. The hotel has a good location, with local shops, restaurants and cafes nearby, plus a short walk to the bus and rail stations. The pools are nice, and the terrace view is amazing.

The location is the hotel's strongest point: right in the heart of town and only a few minutes from the station. The terrace view was amazing too, though it was a shame it hadn't been swept and no one offered drinks there. We may have visited out of season, but parts of the hotel felt tired. Our Superior Room only had a sea view from the balcony, while our friends' standard room had a view too. The superior room still felt basic, just with slightly better decor. Breakfast was okay, nothing special, and the uncovered tables made the room feel unwelcoming. Staff were fine. In my opinion, this doesn't feel like a 4-star hotel.

The staff at Hotel Aequa were lovely and very helpful, and I appreciated one waiter who made sure there was fresh fruit for us each morning after coach groups had taken what was in the buffet. The pool area was lovely too. But after a week there, I wouldn't stay again, which is a shame because the hotel has so much potential. I know Vico Equense well and had high hopes, but the single room had no view or daylight and felt shabby and uninviting. Its hair dryer looked more like a vacuum cleaner attachment. It was frustrating to see other rooms with balconies and lovely coastline views. A well-decorated bedroom with a balcony and sea view would have made such a difference.

The views here are amazing, and there's a nice little town area right outside the hotel. It's an easy, very short walk to the train station, which made visiting other cities in the area simple. Giacomo was especially kind and helpful when we were planning day trips. With the lovely views and friendly staff, I'd definitely recommend staying here.
