Oasi became our go-to stop before a day exploring the Costiera Amalfitana. It opens at 08:15, which is earlier than you might expect from an Italian restaurant, and that made it handy for breakfast before heading out. The saltimbocca is the thing to get. Its focaccia is wood-fired and crunchy, with a choice of more than 10 locally made meat and dairy fillings on display in the fridge. You can add fresh or fried vegetables to the mozzarella or salumi base, too. Everything we tried was fresh and seasoned really well. Prices start at 6 euros for the basic saltimbocca and run from 10 to 14 euros depending on the extras, which cost 2 euros apiece. The staff don’t speak much English, but they were patient and polite, and did their best to answer our questions about the meats, cheeses, and other ingredients. If you’re around the Sorrentine Peninsula or Amalfi Coast and want a quick bite, Oasi is well worth a stop.

The views are beautiful, which is why we picked this place, and the rooms were very clean. But we were woken every morning during our 3-night stay by the owners’ German Shepherds. The dogs live upstairs, right over the guest rooms, and barked and howled on and off. I don’t blame the dogs, but not much seemed to be done to quiet them. The only real escape was to leave for the day. If you’re an early riser, you may be fine here.

We spent one night in a cosy room with a superb sea view. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, breakfast was served in the room, and the sweets downstairs were delicious.
