I got to Il Sireneo at 21.45 in June 2017, after walking downhill from the local station, and found it completely shut with no sign of anyone around. A local passing by helpfully told me they had closed. I’d booked through hotels.com and had received confirmation, so this was a real problem. Luckily, I used my nous and went to another hotel in Marina di Aequa where I’d stayed before. They found room for me at short notice, though it cost more than the 590 euros I’d booked to pay at Sireneo. The replacement hotel was incredibly helpful, and I have no complaint about them. The total ended up being 1100 euros. After I returned to UK, hotels.com offered me only £50. Sireneo and hotels.com should have checked whether Sireneo was operating before allowing the booking. I won’t trust either the hotel or hotels.com again.

Ivano was a great, very welcoming host, ready to pick us up from the train and drive us with our suitcases. That was helpful, since getting there from the station is difficult. The place itself was clean, quiet, and very pretty, and we had a great time with such warm hospitality.

I’m from Castellammare, so I know the whole coast very well, and I have to say the little port of Seano is really beautiful. Best wishes to my city and to the entire coast, which I think is one of the most beautiful.
