Villaggio Gabbiano Beach

The pool and beach are great, and the bed was comfortable, but the hotel needs renovation in my opinion. It's in a beautiful spot, yet barely worth its 4 stars. The food was bland, portions were small, and the morning cappuccino came from a machine. I can make a better one at home. Staff were very inflexible when we asked for an extra portion of pasta for our second child, who hadn't ordered the main course. In our bathroom, the handle was coming loose, and the door lock didn't work well, making it difficult to open the room door. At checkout, we asked to stay an extra hour at the bar, but were told to leave because they had a big changeover. I'm not sure how us sitting in the bar would have affected that. I've never experienced this at a 4-star hotel. We won't return to the hotel, but we will come back to Gargano.
