The homeowners made us feel so welcome. I could happily move in for good if I could. The villa has a gorgeous pool and fruit trees, and there's a dirt road nearby that's lovely for a relaxing walk. A small town is an easy walk away, and the train gets you to Venice. Such an amazing location.

We only stayed a short time and would love to come back. The apartment was very clean, with an old-world feel, and the grounds and facilities were beautiful. Mrs Porto gave us a really warm welcome. It's on the edge of a small village, where we could bike over in five minutes for fresh bread in the morning. A wonderful base for seeing Venice, Padua and the surrounding area.

The extras and long list of rules felt galling for the price we paid. Pool towels cost extra, there was a charge for a swimming cap to use the pool, and each washing machine load cost another E8. I didn't even ask about an iron, since I expected that might cost extra too. After reflecting at home on our stay here and at twelve other apartments around Europe, I felt this place didn't offer good value for money. The home is stately, with an extensive garden, a lovely pool and a very good location. But although the brochure and photos had made us look forward to staying, parts of the experience disappointed us. Our apartment was dark and needed updating, especially the bathroom.

A really nice place to stay, and the hostess at the inn was friendly.

A calm, quiet spot. Just right if you're looking to unwind.
