Ventanas

We stayed at b&b Ventanas from July 30 to August 2, in a typical Sardinian house built from raw earth. It has an unusual, rare beauty. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, well kept, and equipped with everything we needed; the large bedroom was simply but tastefully furnished. The spacious inner courtyard has outdoor tables, and each morning the very kind owner, Walter, treated guests to a generous, tempting breakfast that was still healthy. You can see the care put into restoring the historic architecture and making the place sustainable. Blackberries grow on the bush beside the tall wall covered in greenery, and over the veranda above our accommodation, bunches of grapes were ripening. It was a truly relaxing stay, with a welcoming feel and a close connection to the land's produce.

Walter, the owner, is friendly and kind, and his morning breakfast of genuine local products was delicious. The rooms are in an old barn renovated with raw earth, which makes them quite unusual. I only wish the ground-floor room had been a little brighter. The inner garden where we ate breakfast was very, very green.

This little gem in Villamassargia made us feel very comfortable. Our room was spacious and lovely, with charming, chic furnishings made from pallets and beautiful clay walls. The courtyard was another highlight, with plenty of places to sit. Breakfast was generous and among the best we had in Sardinia. Walter looked after us so well in the mornings, and there was nothing missing. The one small downside was that Wi-Fi didn't reach our room; it was only available outside or in the breakfast room and main building. Everything else was great, and we'd happily come back.

A little gem for anyone after genuine Sardinian hospitality. The courtyard felt like a small paradise, and even with the walls around it, a pleasant breeze made the hot weather much easier. Breakfast was fantastic, with fresh local produce, homemade eggplant cream from the host, and sliced fruit. Good music played at breakfast and again in the evening. Just lovely.
