The house and garden are immaculate, and the owners are welcoming. It's close to the rice beach, with a restaurant across the way and plenty of parking. No Wi-Fi, but that was fine by me.

The house has a lot of potential, but what we found was disappointing. It was dirty throughout, including the sofas and the old, dirty air conditioners, which didn't work. The curtains were grimy and torn, and the place could use renovation. The windows had no screens and couldn't be opened for fresh air. Downstairs was dark and smelled bad, and the toilet leaked whenever it was flushed. For what we paid, it wasn't adequate. I strongly advise against booking.
We stayed at Casa Carlo from August 17-24, 2024, and it was a terrible choice for the price. The house looked different from the photos and was filthy and in need of maintenance in every room. Dust and other appalling conditions made the stay disgusting. The air conditioning didn't work, so we suffered in the heat. The brooms and mop were full of hair and were only replaced later. It ruined our holiday. The place wasn't properly cleaned again until the following day, and the person responsible had very little time. Interhome says it inspects the accommodation, but I don't believe that, and you can't post a review on its website, where the reviews are very old. Don't go there.
The garden is well kept, and there's plenty of outdoor space, including a large terrace. It's also well placed, close enough to Villasimius center and the beaches. The bathroom is cramped and poorly equipped. Its old shower stall has no showerhead, which was awkward with children. The kitchen feels dated, with a tiny stovetop and no dishwasher. They charge separately for air conditioning, at an outrageous price. Not terrible, but for the same money, there are much better options.
I strongly advise against renting this cottage, and I also warn people about the INTERCHOME + BOOKING + AGODA booking arrangement. The photos were clearly taken by a top-notch professional, but that's where the professionalism of those three companies ends. The cottage wasn't ready for winter-season use and had a strong musty, damp smell after the winter. It was under 18 degrees Celsius inside. INTERCHOME + BOOKING + AGODA GROUP said they had graciously left the air conditioning remotes at no extra cost, but we didn't want cooling, and the units couldn't heat. Families with small children could freeze there before the season. A note from INTERCHOME + BOOKING + AGODA GROUP telling us to bring sleeping bags would have been enough. The listing says there are four bedrooms, including two with king-size beds. That's nonsense: in tiny print at the bottom, it says, and I emphasize this is written, that all bedrooms are available only when there are more than four guests. You pay for the full place and get half. One of the two bedrooms had two beds, literally bunks for teenagers. Nobody at least 170 cm tall could sleep there, let alone men who are 180-190 cm. God forbid any Dutch person go there. We called the hotline several times and got no answer. Someone eventually responded after several hours and asked us to email. In their later complaint response, the companies said we had to wait and someone would come sort things out, presumably for the rest of our four-night stay. We returned the keys the next morning, so the cottage could have been made available again, but INTERCHOME + BOOKING + AGODA refused to refund a cent or offer compensation. They all shift responsibility by claiming their supposedly 24/7 hotline was open when it wasn't. We found apartments at GRANIT B&B for half the price, and I mean half, with heating, a pool, breakfast, and such good cleanliness that the cottage we left seemed like a Third World country by comparison. I strongly warn against INTERCHOME + BOOKING + AGODA GROUP. They treat tourists like pawns and don't take us seriously. Anyone who works or runs a business knows these kinds of failures call for some response, not polite emails saying, "I'M VERY SORRY."
