Regina Simius Hotel

Villasimius is a great base for nearby beaches and hikes, or even a trip to Cagliari. From this hotel in the village, the main street, restaurants, shops, and Saturday market are all within walking distance. The building is arranged around an inner courtyard, used as an outdoor breakfast room, with an indoor room connected to it. It's nicely decorated. Our room was very big and clean, with a wonderful large balcony. At breakfast, you choose items on arrival, such as croissant, ham and cheese, eggs, or cakes. There's also a buffet of yogurt, bread, cereal, milk, juice, and water. The staff were very friendly. We visited in October during shoulder season and paid about 80 Euro/night, which felt like a good deal. At a higher price, I'm not sure. The bed was two beds pushed together, and you could feel the join; the mattresses were a bit uncomfortable too. Even with a big room and balcony, we didn't get enough fresh air unless the window was slid open. Then noise started around 7am, at least in the off-season.

We stayed in May'17, and Enrico and his wife gave us a very friendly welcome. The rooms are modern and very clean, and breakfast was lovely with nice coffee. The hotel is right in the center of downtown. You can walk to the beach or drive to nearby beaches, with a new one every 5 minutes. Amazing. We'll come back, Enrico! :)

The staff were very nice and friendly, and the room was clean. The breakfast setup was annoying, though. You arrive tired and have to fill in a form in Italian to choose what you want the next day. It's unclear whether you're selecting one item or a serving for one person. When I wrote "1 ham," I literally got one slice of ham. I understand the effort to avoid food waste, but accommodation at this price shouldn't come with those kinds of limits. The process feels odd and nonstandard. Also, the full price, including taxes, should be clear at the time of booking.

A cozy hotel with friendly staff and a generous breakfast. Having private parking is a big advantage, and the hotel is near the main street, via Umberto, with all its shops and restaurants. Barbara was always helpful with recommendations for the best beaches and restaurants. We'd like to come back.
