Agriturismo La Gioconda

Casetta 1 worked well for our family of four, with a private terrace, a barbecue, and a nice place to sit. Eva and her husband have created a wonderful spot near Leonardo da Vinci’s birthplace. The owners were super friendly and ready to help, and we bought wine and olive oil made on their farm. It’s a quiet agriturismo tucked away from busy roads, with olive trees, lovely views of Vinci, and magnificent sunsets. We were also within reach of Firenze, Lucca, Pisa, Livorno, San Gimignano, and Volterra. The whole setting made for a perfect holiday. You should stay here. Period.

The host was really nice, and we loved their amazing wine. Such a beautiful place to stay, with gorgeous views across Tuscany. I’d highly recommend it.

We wish we could go back tomorrow. Eva and Lorenzo made our stay fantastic, taking time to tell us about the area and helping us feel that they’d find whatever we needed. One afternoon they brought fresh figs and zucchini squash to go with the meal we were preparing. They also showed us where they make the wine and olive oil, then let us sample products that were about to be bottled or packed in tins for sale. The views from La Gioconda take in the olive groves and vineyards, the town of Vinci, and Leonardo de Vinci's boyhood home. There are plenty of good restaurants and delicious gelato nearby, and the pool was wonderful. We even met 94 yr. old Pepe, who still works on the property. La Gioconda was even better than the pictures we’d seen before our visit. Thanks to Eva and Lorenzo from Michelle, Nanci, Mateo, Katherine, Ron and Bob.

The hosts have paid attention to all the little things that make a stay enjoyable. It’s beautiful and peaceful, though quite remote. That distance is also what makes it so quiet.
