Casa Carbonaia

I loved how quiet and peaceful it was, with amazing panoramic views across the valley. This is one of the most wonderful places I've ever found, and I really hope I can come back someday.

We were 21 people on a mountain biking trip in mid-October, and the location suited us perfectly. Hiking trails start right outside, and there were magnificent views, peaceful surroundings, a lovely pool, friendly staff and a large room for breakfast and dinner. It was around 8 degrees Celsius during our two nights, so some heating would have been welcome. 😉

The panorama from Casa Carbonia is incredible, and the pool is wonderful for cooling off on hot, muggy days. It's a magical place where relaxing comes naturally. From here you can reach Tuscany's main cities, the coast, or even Garfagnana, between the Apuan Alps and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The thermal baths at Montecatini, Casciana and Gambassi are close too. The owners are truly lovely people. Luca, Luigi and Andrea are always on hand, and Simone, the most adventurous one, organizes activities such as canyoning experience, which I highly recommend. And of course, the food here is simply excellent. I've been coming back at least once a year for a long time now, so I'm a regular. Well done, guys, keep it up.

The farm's own wine and olive oil are well worth trying. Simone, the manager, can point you to hiking and mountain biking routes, or join you on more demanding outings like hiking, caving or canyoning. The apartments are well kept inside an old farmhouse, with olive groves, a pool and shared outdoor cooking and dining areas. It's a magnificent spot in the hills above Vinci.
