Le Undici Rose Hotel

For a double room costing €170 per night without breakfast, this was very poor value. We wouldn't recommend staying here. The first impression was that the room looked decent and maintained, but the problems became obvious fast. The bathroom was tiny and hard to use, with fixtures crowded together. There was no window, fan or other ventilation, so it felt stuffy. Worse, there was no hot water at all, and it was -3 degrees Celsius outside, making a shower impossible. The bed didn't help: the mattress was low and too soft, and the very thin pillow felt almost nonexistent, so we didn't get restful sleep.

I was there for three work nights and just needed a bed, a warm room and a hot shower. None of that worked out. The bathroom had no bidet, the toilet had no seat (I attached a photo), and the sink was about the size of my palm (photo attached). My first shower was completely cold, not even lukewarm. From the second day, the air conditioning, water flow and TV signal kept cutting in and out, so the room never warmed up. During one shower the water stopped, leaving me covered in soap and water in the cold for 7-8 minutes before it came back. This affected all the rooms: there were eight of us in eight separate rooms with the same issue. We tried reception, but it isn't staffed around the clock and nobody got back to us. The owner and staff were very kind and polite, which I felt bad about, but this isn't an experience I'd repeat.

There was dirt and dust everywhere, the sheets couldn't be changed, and we had no toilet paper. We also found ants and cockroaches in the room. The power kept going out, the room was freezing, the water was cold, and the room flooded several times. Staff were unfriendly and rude, and didn't seem to care about guests' problems. It felt more like a rundown hostel than a hotel. I wouldn't recommend it or stay again, even for free.

The location is great and the building is beautiful, but our December visit was a real disappointment. Parking was listed as a service, yet it was a municipal paid lot at 1.50 per hour, even on holidays, and finding a space was difficult. In the room, the minibar was empty and there was no soundproofing at all. We could hear everything, even the neighbors breathing. The room was freezing and there was no hot water. Staff called it a "boiler failure," but other reviews suggest it happens often. They just told us to wait and did nothing before midnight; by 8:30 the next morning, the water was cold again. Staff were absent from around 6:30 PM until morning. The service was below what I'd expect even from a basic B&B, let alone a hotel.
