Relais Santa Caterina

The pool and the food were the highlights for me, and the location just outside Viterbo is convenient, close to the highway too. We stayed in the Queen Suite Deluxe, spread over two floors and with a lovely garden. It felt elegant but comfortable, with plush bedding and thoughtful decor. After leaving our bags, I headed straight to the pool, where there are loungers among the greenery. I spent hours swimming and relaxing in the sun, sometimes with a cold drink. At dinner, the courses were fresh, beautifully presented, and full of Italian flavors. The staff were attentive without hovering. Salvatore, the manager, made a real difference with his professionalism and attention to detail, as well as his recommendations and friendly chats by the pool. He helped make our stay feel easy and personal. Breakfast was the one weak spot. It felt underwhelming beside the rooms, pool, and restaurant, and could use some attention. Still, my family and I felt a sense of calm from the moment we arrived, with the lush surroundings and quiet countryside. Santa Caterina Relais feels like a hidden gem, and I'd come back for the relaxing atmosphere, rooms, pool, food, and service. Food: 4/5. Service: 5/5. Location and atmosphere: 4/5.

The building is nice and has a swimming pool, though the IKEA furniture in the rooms by the pool felt a bit odd for this setting. The room price doesn't seem too high, but the owner tries to sell you an expensive meal, along with wine, which makes it feel like they're making up the difference. The kitchen's food was reasonable, but too expensive and felt like a ripoff. The wine was overpriced too.

We only stayed one night, but dinner was so good that we were glad we didn't go out. The quality was fantastic, the portions just right, and everything was prepared perfectly. It could hold its own against plenty of good restaurants. The property is peaceful and surrounded by nature, with a large garden and a clean pool, plus excellent sunbeds with comfortable cushions. Our room was clean and fine, though a little small by comparison. They also let us check in early because we arrived early, which was flexible and convenient. It's excellent value for money and a good base for a few days visiting Rome while saving a lot of money. We'd love to return for longer.

The room was clean and spacious, and there were lots of loungers around the well-kept pool. The pool relaxation area is genuinely restful. The food was very good and generous, and Salvatore was fantastic and available for any request. We were looking for somewhere quiet to unwind and get away from the chaos of Rome, and this suited us so well that I had to leave a review. Highly recommended.
