Marco Polo Suite Resort

We had booked one night and paid in advance through booking.com. We arrived at 20:00, and the woman at the hotel immediately said the reservation was for two, even though there were three of us, including our 3 y.o child. She demanded 50% of the price for the child. We explained that we didn’t need an extra bed and the baby would sleep with us, but she told us to pay or leave. We refused, asked to cancel, and requested a refund. She said there would be no refund and told us, “The door is there, you can spend the night in another hotel.” When we said we’d leave a bad review, she agreed to refund us. She said an email notification would arrive and the money would go back to the same card. We asked for confirmation, but she said it would come by email. We went to another hotel. In the morning, I got a message saying we hadn’t arrived at all, and there was no refund. We called booking, explained what happened, and they tried calling the hotel, but nobody answered. booking asked us to return, so we did. Then we were told, “Go away, we will not communicate with you, but only with booking.” When I said booking had called and got no answer, they denied anyone had called. We’ve stayed in 20+ hotels with a child and have never been asked to pay extra for the child. We’ve also never been treated so disgustingly as customers.

The view is marvelous, and the quiet makes this an interesting place to stay while visiting Venice. There’s a very good restaurant and helpful staff, and the rooms are unusually large with plenty of space. You can also visit historic towns like Belluno, Valdobbiadene, and Conegliano. A good choice if you’re looking for a hotel that’s a bit different.

The mountain scenery is breathtaking, and the rooms are comfortable and quiet. The hospitality was unbelievable.
