We came away feeling completely looked after, and can’t wait to return. Antonella and the whole team made the stay feel warm and personal, with the attention you’d expect from a much higher rated hotel. The breakfast service was timed perfectly, our room was spotless, and the staff seemed to notice all the small things. Il Saraceno is in peaceful Volastra, away from the crowds in the main towns, with convenient shuttle and trail access. Antonella was the heart of the stay, sharing great local advice and anticipating what we might need. We visited last October, choosing this small independent hotel to get off the beaten path while exploring Cinque Terre. Though it’s officially three stars, the hospitality felt like five.

Antonella was incredibly sweet and gave the place a warm, family home feel. She even stayed up late to open the gate for us. The service made us feel welcome and cared for throughout. Our room was cozy and warm when we arrived, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was freshly made and included delicious local products.

With only seven rooms and a quiet village around it, the hotel was wonderfully peaceful, and the view from our room was surprisingly beautiful. Breakfast was made to order, and the service felt well above what you might expect from a three-star place. The hilltop setting and the family home atmosphere were lovely, thanks in large part to Antonella, whose warm welcome made us feel at home straight away.

Volastra is a lovely quiet town, just a short bus ride from Manarola, and the views are stunning. Staying at Hotel Il Saraceno was the best choice I made for my few days in Cinque Terre. The rooms were clean and had a/c, and the owner was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. She shared loads of useful information and was so accommodating, even getting up very early to let me out of the gate so I could catch my train. There was care in every detail. I can’t recommend this hidden gem enough.

The bus stop is right across the street, making it easy to get to Manarola and the other towns. Buy bus, train, and love walk tickets directly from Hotel to get the resident rate.
