Hotel Foresteria Volterra

We had a pleasant stay in a family room on the third floor, with a lovely view over the Tuscan countryside. It was very good value for the money. Check-in was fast and professional, and the man at reception gave us helpful advice on getting around Volterra. Breakfast was the usual Italian hotel fare. We’d stay here again if we return to Volterra.

We used the hotel as a base for exploring the area and didn’t eat there. The rooms are roomy and well equipped, the air conditioning works well, and everything was spotlessly clean. There’s plenty of parking, the price is reasonable, and the staff are genuinely kind and friendly. It’s a little way from the old town, but an easy walk without driving into Volterra. Viale dei Ponti is shaded by roadside trees even in the sun, and the views along the way are beautiful. We loved the place and can’t think of a downside. Some hoteliers in Florence could learn from how guests are treated here.

The walk into the city center is very manageable, and the price was lower than at other places. The rooms weren’t as good as I’d hoped, and breakfast was poor, though the hotel seemed promising at first.

A quaint hotel with good food and service. Seems well suited to kids and bigger groups.
