The pizza fresh from the oven was delicious, and the hotel sits in a lovely spot. Our room was clean and comfortable enough, though the mattress wasn’t great. I also didn’t understand the extra €15 breakfast charge for our 2-year-old.

We found the hotel restaurant good, and the free parking was handy. The mountain setting is lovely, and it works well as a base for exploring the area. Just be ready for the steep, narrow, winding road from the lake up to the village. I wouldn’t want to drive it after dark.

The quiet nights and scenic roads around here are still what I remember most. We stayed for a couple of lovely nights around 2016, using Hotel National as a base for visiting Bellagio, Como, and other places nearby. Breakfast was amazing too, especially the blood orange juice, cappuccino, and croissants. I still dream about that stay!

The rooms are on the small side, but they’re tastefully done, and the bathroom was great. It’s a nice little hotel up in the hills, with reasonable prices and a good restaurant. Some rooms have a big terrace with a lovely view of the church and the village across from it.

The people were really friendly, and the bar and restaurant downstairs were fabulous. Our room, though, got very hot, with no fan or air conditioning. The bed linen felt a bit old and wasn’t very comfortable. The bathroom had just been redone and was clean and nice.
