What started as a two-night stay at Reggae Moon Guest House turned into a whole week. Sal was a great host, always available and able to help with requests. The local breakfast was filling and set me up well for the day. The community was welcoming and peaceful. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet retreat and a chance to discover the real Jamaica.

The host was so friendly, and for a small fee he'd take you to Falmouth or the glistening waters and bring you back. He also cooks a great breakfast. It was a pleasure staying at this guest house, and I'd recommend a visit.

Sel, the host, is a scholar and a gentleman, and the community is amazing. Need a rental car or a ride? Sel makes it happen. I'd stay again anytime. Thanks, Reggae Moon!!!

I felt incredibly unsafe here and would never stay again. Sal was friendly and courteous until a dispute about payment. I'd been backpacking for almost 10 years, and this was the most terrified I'd been on my travels. Please think carefully before booking. The argument happened as I was leaving. Sal wanted money for a drive to a local rum distillery, but we hadn't agreed on a fee. He'd led me to think the drive was part of the service, with a tip expected. He insisted on USD $50, much more than my night's accommodation cost. I thought around 10 or 15 US would be fair. We argued for a while, then he offered a lower amount. I refused and left what I felt was reasonable on his coffee table: the accommodation cost plus another $15 USD equivalent in Jamaican dollars. As I headed for the door, he blocked me and wouldn't move. When I tried to get past, he focused on my having touched him and acted like a victim in front of a German guest watching from the couch. I filmed him in the doorway on my phone to document that he wouldn't let me leave. He accused me of threatening him, though I hadn't, then snatched my reading glasses off my face. I followed him to the kitchen asking for the glasses. He picked up a metal pot lid and held it threateningly over my head, then physically pinned me against a wall and asked if I wanted to pay the full price. I still refused, perhaps foolishly. He said he'd call the police, which I'd already suggested as a way to settle things. I agreed because I felt unsafe. He'd put my glasses in his pocket, and after asking several times, I gave up on getting them back. I said I'd go to the front porch so he couldn't trap me inside. As I tried to leave, he grabbed the door and tried to lock me in. I managed to squeeze past despite him trying to pull me back with his legs. A couple arrived to check in, and Sal suddenly became welcoming and friendly. I was clearly upset, and he seemed not to want to lose new business. He reluctantly returned my glasses, let me leave, and still had the money I'd put down in his hand. He asked another guest to drive me back to town. He objected when I said he'd been a bad man to me, but I stand by that. I didn't make a police report, though perhaps I should have. My stay had been okay until this incident.

The rooms are clean, the prices are reasonable, and the owner is very friendly. It feels like a home away from home.
