The noisy location in the middle of Half-Way Tree made it hard to rest, and the place felt more like a low-end hostel than the peaceful getaway it claims to be. The host was defensive and unhelpful when I brought up my concerns. The owner may try to guilt you into staying despite the property's condition, so ask to see the room before handing over money. It's marketed as a comfy guest house with a relaxed local vibe, but I found it rundown, more like a shack. The pool was dirty, the bathroom light didn't work, and cleanliness overall was lacking. A disappointing stay, nothing like advertised.

The dorm had plenty of space, and each bed came with its own little fan, light, and locker. But the room was dark, noisy, and had no AC. The kitchen was dirty, and the outdoor area with the pool and hammock felt neglected, with little attention to detail. Staff weren't friendly. I tried paying directly to support the place, but they charged more than the online rate. When I asked about it politely, I got a rude response.

For 20 USD, getting a bed, hot water, and a pool in Uptown Kingston is great value. I would've liked the rooms swept daily and the bathrooms cleaned too, but it was clean enough for me. Some locals live there, and one night security said their 'show' might not look good to tourists. I disagree. What happens there felt like a unique, realistic glimpse of Jamaican life and struggle, much more real than TV. That's part of why I travel. Things can get intense and impress visitors, so just let them know to keep out of it and enjoy the experience. ✌️😉🤣
