The Courtleigh Hotel and Suites

The breakfast was very good and had a nice variety, but the way the reservation problem was handled was terrible. I arrived Sunday, ten days after paying, and the hotel couldn’t find my Booking.com reservation. While they said they were checking with Booking.com, I had to pay a $200 USD deposit to check in and gave them all the reservation details. On Monday the receptionist asked for another $200 deposit, which I refused. The hotel still hadn’t contacted Booking.com, so I spent about two hours on the phone with customer service myself. They confirmed that my reservation and payment were in order and said they would open a case. I sent all the proof to the manager and expected her to look into it. On Wednesday, without having checked with Booking.com, she spoke to me in a hostile tone and practically accused me of fraud. After a heated conversation, the hotel finally contacted Booking.com and resolved it. If they’d verified things from the start, I wouldn’t be writing this.

The rooms and grounds are really clean, the prices are reasonable, and the staff are courteous and go out of their way to help with what you need. I’ve stayed three times already and am about to book a fourth. See you soon.

The housekeeper on the 9th floor did an excellent job, but construction noise kept interrupting the quiet I expected. I’ve enjoyed staying at Courtleigh Hotel before, so this visit was a real letdown. Check-in didn’t go well. I felt undermined, and the extra charges weren’t explained clearly. I also didn’t get the room I’d chosen, and the beds were so uncomfortable that I woke with back pain every morning and had to take Tylenol. Watch the prices posted online too. My four-night price went from $745 to $1200, with no room service or food. Never again.

The balcony view was amazing, and there are several parking spots. The rooms are a decent size, though I wouldn’t call them spacious. Drinking water is available only from 11am-8pm, so after that you have to buy it. The vibe and atmosphere are both 100%. It’s a convenient location and worth your time and money. I liked the complimentary breakfast and WiFi, the tasty breakfast, cleanliness, view, TV, microwave, fridge, gym, soundproof walls, pool, clean washrooms and customer service. Good for picnics, morning or evening walks, a weekend getaway, hanging out, dates, or spending time with loved ones. Not a good fit for dog walks or biking, and there’s no kitchenette. I’d recommend it.
