Grandiosa Hotel

The room was in bad shape when we finally got in: the windows were open and it smelled strongly of marijuana. We asked to move, but were told it was the only room available. At 8:30 pm they sent someone with cleaning products to deal with the smell. We declined because we just wanted to sleep. Getting to the room was frustrating too. We arrived at 6:00 pm and checked in, but still weren't allowed in. After asking several times for the key and room number, I was told to wait in the lobby until someone could show me up. The manager came out of her office with an attitude when I asked for her. She said the room was ready, but insisted a staff member had to escort us, even though that person already had the key. The manager and front desk staff were rude. The rest of the staff were good, and so was the food. Still, it was a disappointing experience.

The conference room had the space, setup, and equipment our training needed, and parking was adequate. The property also has a pool and a terrific view of the Bay. I stayed overnight for a training; the room was adequate and staff were accommodating and courteous, though I didn't get many smiles. Supper was tasty and well prepared. Breakfast could start earlier than 7:50 am for people who need to leave early, and the air conditioning could have been cooler. I would recommend it.

The hotel is handy for getting to Montego Bay and nearby areas if you want to explore or shop. Our studio was clean, everything worked, and the comfortable queen bed had clean linen. There was no refrigerator in the room, but they brought one on request at no extra charge. The housekeeping staff refreshed the room while we were out, and customer service was above average. The balcony view was what we remember most from our December 2011 stay. It looks over the main road and then out to the ocean, and it's awesome. We took lots of pictures, though power lines cut across the view. Being near Queen's Drive also means some road noise, which can take away from the quiet. Parking was sometimes difficult because space was limited. There's a pool for a dip and a well-stocked bar for drinkers.

I had my birthday party there on 3/26/22, and the service left me disappointed. The food arrived cold and there wasn't enough for the 60 people I paid for. The rooftop was very dark and needs proper lighting. After the hotel's reconstruction, I expected spectacular service, but I wasn't happy with what I received.
