Montego Bay Club Beach Resort

I paid over $300 for two nights in what felt like an absolute dump. The room was filthy, with trash in the cabinets and drawers, and the two towels they left were torn. The bedroom TV didn’t work either. There was no maid service. I asked the office for clean towels and housekeeping, they said okay, but nobody came.

I’m the mother of the young woman who was found dead in room 1003 almost two years ago. She hadn’t even been there 24 hours. She only wanted to celebrate her 24th birthday, and instead I got the news that she was found dead on her birthday. Not once did a manager contact me to offer condolences. When I called, the woman at the front desk told me my child was dead. Her report came back, and all I’ll say is be careful here and be careful who you book as your tour guide. Another young woman who stayed here about a month ago messaged me to say she felt very uncomfortable while alone, just like my child was. It’s been two years and I’m still waiting on the investigation. If you’re a tourist, take your money elsewhere. They’re trying to cover it up, but God sees all, and justice will be done.

The staff were lovely and helpful, and the place is close to the beach. We were desperate for a room, so we stayed, but we were disappointed. This isn’t a resort, it’s an apart-hotel where each room is pot luck. The pool had no functionality, there was no bar, and we only had access to our room despite being charged outrageous “resort fees.” The room was clean, but the bedroom had no AC, the walls were dirty, and the kitchen was old and tired. The “reception” was just a long room with torn lino flooring and an unfinished ceiling, not a good first impression. Don’t book through guest reservations, they charge tax and resort fees that you shouldn’t have to pay.

I was hesitant about staying here after reading the reviews and wasn’t sure what to expect. The room turned out to be really spacious, with an amazing view, and the location couldn’t be better. It could use updating and better maintenance, but for the price it was good. I’d stay again if I come back to Montego Bay.
