Sandals Caribbean Cay

We went to celebrate our thirtieth anniversary and my wife being cancer free. It was a phenomenal trip. The room view was amazing, the food was delicious, and the resort was awesome. Every staff member we met was friendly, professional, and genuinely sincere. If you need a chance to refresh, I’d encourage you to plan a trip.

Our first stay at any Sandals resort was for our 24th anniversary, and we had a wonderful time. Butler service was new to me, so I found it hard to ask for things at first. Jerome and Kristof made the trip extra special and never made me feel like I was bothering them. They encouraged me to call or text whenever I needed something. We’re looking forward to visiting more Sandals resorts.

The good parts were the dinner options, which were mostly good, and the nice tub, shower, and view in our room. My husband and I still managed to have fun relaxing in the sun, but we left disappointed. We paid a lot and were left wanting more. There was construction next to our building all week, starting as early as 7 am, plus three straight days of repairs right outside our room. The bed was so uncomfortable that my husband tried sleeping on the couch, and the smoke detector flashed brightly above our heads all night. Lunch was mediocre. We waited 45 minutes for two gross pizzas, and room service brought stale nachos, overcooked dry burgers, and a cold croque monsieur with unmelted cheese. Our in-room bar was stocked only three times during our seven-night stay. Massages were overpriced and not worth it. We were also repeatedly contacted about booking another vacation, approached by photographers, and stopped on the beach by spa staff trying to schedule services. Locals called to us from the water to sell trinkets. The resort should have told us about the construction before we arrived.

We enjoyed the excursions and the relaxed atmosphere, and the lobster was amazing. The beachside dinner was so good. My husband and I originally booked four days at Sandals Royal Caribbean, then extended our stay to seven because the service was amazing. Our butler Ellis always answered when we called and went above and beyond to make the stay feel magical. We’ll definitely return.
