The beach and the people were lovely, and you can enjoy the sun, but I'd only suggest this place if you're mainly after a bargain hotel. Our room was very old and had no refrigerator, even though we had a 1 year old baby with us. We were told we'd owe $300+ because we arrived late at night, supposedly a day before the reservation. The full stay was almost 4 days for 3 people and cost $400, so that made no sense. Staff seemed to stare at us a lot. I'm not sure whether they were uncomfortable with Hispanics or white people, though I don't judge anyone by background or skin color. The food didn't impress me and there wasn't much variety. It was called “All inclusive,” but we still had to buy bottled water and closed drinks. This has nothing to do with Sandals at all. The island depends a lot on tourism financially, and the hotels need to improve if they want to attract more visitors.

We arrived 12.27.19 and, after a rocky check-in, the rest of the resort was better than I expected. The grounds were lovely, security was top notch, and the beachside buffet and bar were convenient. The food was better than expected for Jamaica, though the drinks weren't very good. It's next to Alfred's, so beach bars are easy to get to. I suggest checking in with security every day. The front desk was the weakest part. Our booking was for two rooms with two double beds, for one couple and three adults. At check-in, they said they had only one double room and one king room, leaving someone without a bed. We wouldn't accept that, but after an hour we had to take the two rooms. The second room, which they'd said had a king bed, actually had the two double beds we booked. Totally clueless. I'd definitely return.

We loved the ocean side so much that we're going back in March for a longer visit. Our group of 9 all got the ocean-side rooms we requested, and there were plenty of chairs along the beautiful water. The rooms are small and the hotel is older, but it is well cared for, cleaned daily, and the food was great. With 7 miles of beach, we weren't worried about what the rooms looked like. The staff were accommodating and security was on point. My two younger sisters could leave the resort or walk on the beach without any trouble. It was handy having a small convenience store across the street for bottled water at night and authentic Jamaican bakery items. I didn't cross over to explore the rest of the resort, but I really enjoyed the ocean-side section. For a great place that doesn't break the bank, I recommend Grand Pineapple. It was our first Jamaica trip, and we loved every bit of it.

The stairs to the rooms were downright dangerous. My wife and I both slipped and fell on them after the rain, even though we were sober. My ankle and wrist are still sore, and someone could get badly hurt. I hope they fix them; textured paint with grit might be enough. Aside from that, this all-inclusive was worth every penny. I'd pick the beach side. The rooms were fair, though I don't fuss much over them since most of the time is spent outside. The food was good, and the drinks were great. Marvette was the friendliest bartender, although some of the others weren't very attentive. When the buffet gets old, Erica's Hideaway Restaurant and Bar is a short drive away, and we had the best food of our stay there.

The staff were so friendly and hospitable, and they often went out of their way to help. We came back really late from an excursion one night, after dinner and the kitchen had closed. Somehow they arranged a couple of sandwiches because we were starving. Fresh, simple, filling cheese sandwiches, and the best I've had! The rooms were clean, the food was AMAZING, and it was hard to believe the resort was rated 3 stars. I miss it and would go back just for the food. Thanks, Grand Pineapple!
