Chrisanns Beach Resort

The pool and beach are fantastic, and there’s a restaurant and grocery store nearby. We happened to visit while renovations were underway. At night, the car racing can make it hazardous to cross.

I found the property really relaxing. There’s a decent-sized pool with different depths, plus a little cove where you can swim in salt water. Keep a lookout for the entrance as you come around the bend from Ocho Rios, since the sign is currently down. I missed it myself. There’s also a slope going in and out.

Our unit was nicely decorated, and the courtyard pool was clean. It’s a beachfront property in a gated complex with a security guard and an ocean cove for swimming. The building exteriors could use a fresh coat of paint.

The setting looked nice from outside, with a private beach and a well-kept pool, but the rooms were a huge disappointment. We arrived around 6:30 P.M. and the office was closed, with no staff around. Security brought us the keys. Our second-floor door was very hard to open, and the bedrooms were up another flight of spiral stairs. Because of a foot condition, I struggle with stairs, but security said I’d have to manage until the next day. There was a sofa chair in terrible shape that we were afraid to sit on, and the stove top was so rusty it couldn’t be used. The bedrooms smelled damp and moldy, and the bed linens were badly discolored. Dust from a filthy fan blew into my eyes, and the bedside lamp was covered in dust. When the office opened the next morning, Mr. Thompson was courteous, apologized, and offered us another room. Room 8 was a little better, but still not clean. It seemed like housekeeping wasn’t dusting, mopping, or sweeping. The tiled floor had all kinds of stains, and the window sills and curtains were dusty. On Sunday night, February 23rd, we came back to find biting ants around the bed’s baseboard and the window sill. I had to call security for help. For $542 for three nights, I expected the room to be in much better condition. The interiors badly need attention to detail, and cleanliness definitely isn’t a strong point here. I’m not trying to be difficult, but being in Jamaica shouldn’t mean accepting that things can’t be done better. Given the location, management could make the inside reflect the outside. It feels like a whitewashed sepulcher. I was very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
