Turtle Beach Towers

We stayed four days. The location was good, with places to eat nearby, but one of the elevators kept getting stuck while we were there. It didn't happen to us, but we saw people get trapped in one, so we used the stairs.

The apartment itself was nice and the owner was friendly, and the location is the reason I might return, though it would be with gritted teeth. The maintenance man was the only person who tried to help me get water and answer basic questions. The complex staff were another story. There was no water in my building, and while I explained this, Mrs Williams, the manager, kept eating cereal and said it wasn't her problem because she couldn't access the issue. Her manner and customer service were appalling. Security also need basic courtesy: respond when greeted, get off the phone when residents ask simple questions, and don't sing Christian music while someone waits for an answer. The pool was being renovated slowly when I left. A few useful things: get the free beach passes from Tower 4 or you may be denied access and charged ridiculous US dollars. Margaritaville is now cut in half; you can use the premises, but the beach is much better. There's a tiny shop downstairs in Tower 3 for urgent items, and a washing machine. Sandcastle next door has great breakfast and food on the first floor, with lovely, polite staff. There's lots to eat and do nearby, and friendly patrol people outside the complex, so don't be afraid to explore.

The beach is right there, and the apartment is a nice option if you want to stay in Ocho Rios away from the hustle and bustle. I was in 31 B on the first floor. It's kept well, feels airy and spacious for its size, and has air conditioning plus an overhead fan. The bathroom is immaculate and modern, and the bedroom has a very comfortable king bed and a large closet. Seeing it is believing, as we say.

The flat is lovely, and the security staff are kind, wonderful people. But the bars nearby play music every night from 10 pm until 4 am. If you're not out clubbing nightly, you'll definitely need noise-cancelling headphones.
