The villa has stunning views, though the drive up is a little hair-raising. The road is lit at night, but I wouldn't recommend driving it then. We tried to return before dark, and when we went out late, especially farther into the hills, we used a driver. Fred, the owner, was a gentleman and came to our rescue when we urgently needed somewhere to stay. He let us view the place before deciding, which was great. Dennis, who lives on site, became like a father figure by the end. With Shana's help, he got the villa ready for us in no time. It's older than the pictures, but still felt like home, which mattered during rainy season when sometimes we couldn't go out. We couldn't use the pool because of the weather or try Shana's cooking, but Dennis gave us five-star treatment. He arranged a lovely driver called Valentine and excursions. Bamboo rafting is a must, and the food at soldier camp is awesome. He also suggested places to go and filled us in on local news. I still can't believe we blindly drove past Andrew Holiness! If you want somewhere clean, well appointed, well located, and with great views, stay here. You won't be disappointed.

Dennis, the property keeper, is around and sociable when you want company, and gives you space when you don't. He also makes a delicious fruit smoothie. Shana is a delight, keeps the house spotless, and cooks amazing meals. I went with her to the local markets and the docks where fishermen bring in their catch, then she made breakfast and dinner each day from what we bought. Charlie, the property's driver, helped me find the local experiences I was after. He connected me with a river guide for the Rio Grande, a guide to climb Reach Falls, and a Blue Mountain coffee farmer who grows and roasts his own beans on a one-acre farm. Tranquility Villa sits in the hills above Port Antonio, with beautiful views of the bay and mountains. The clean, comfortable rooms and outdoor areas, including the pool, are great for relaxing. It's a wonderful place to experience a slice of traditional Jamaica. I can't wait to return. For authentic, friendly Jamaica, it's here.
