Casa Maria Hotel

Casa Maria Hotel was a nice escape from the everyday rush. There’s plenty of outdoor space to park, stroll around, or relax with a view of the Caribbean sea. The ocean breeze greets you on the way in, and the hotel feels cool, clean, and welcoming. Our room stayed spacious, clean, and cool throughout the visit. The menu was presented nicely, and the service was excellent. Our food came on time. 👌 😋 I'd definitely return. 👏

My stay was disappointing. There was no hot water in the pipes, so I had to heat some in a kettle, and the food wasn't very good. I might as well have stayed home.

The food is great, and somehow gets better every time I visit. The staff are friendly, and you can tell they get regular training. The place is spotless and well kept. On a sunny day, the view across Port Maria Bay is stunning and really captivates visitors. The hotel's conference facilities are very affordable. I hope they add an elevator soon, because the stairs are quite hard for seniors.

I found it easier to get cold water from the bar and keep it in a thermos than to pay an extra 15 US dollars per night for a small fridge. Breakfast was pleasant, although the callaloo was too salty for me. The room was clean, the shower had hot water, and the wifi worked well. It's a very basic, old hotel, and the stairs make it unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. None of the rooms have step-free access. I was also confused by the different room listings on the hotel's website and Expedia. I thought I'd booked a balcony room with wide ocean views, but the room I got was different. Contacting the hotel and trying to book directly was a problem, and when I did reach them, they directed me to Expedia. The staff couldn't help sort out the room issue. Their customer service is lacking, though it's a rural hotel in a non-touristy area and they did their best. I was used to the area and could hail local taxis to Ocho Rios and Port Maria town, but that could be difficult for some visitors. The August price was very competitive. If you want a clean, no-frills place and don't mind being away from the tourist crowds, it could suit you. It may be a good fit for Jamaicans from other parishes looking for a weekend break, or returnees. I may attach two videos, one from the balcony and one while waiting for passing taxis.
