Arena Hotel

Definitely not a four-star hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it. There were cockroaches in the room, the food was awful, and the A/C and fridge didn’t work. The sheets were dirty and weren’t changed even after I asked. They didn’t properly clean the room, just made the bed. Some rooms are separated by a door, so you hear a lot of noise. I’d rate it two stars at most.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, but the stay had plenty of problems. The room for three was spacious. I was there with my tour group for five days and four nights last February. My room was at the back of the hotel, and I could hear loud bass from karaoke or a disco every night until 4am. It might be even louder on the other side. The bedroom heater was only medium sized and the room was still cold, while the bathroom had no heater at all. The lights were too dim, and there was no way to turn them off, so they stayed on. Room service didn’t do much. The food wasn’t very tasty, and even with food heaters it was still cold. The pasta was overcooked, and most dishes were too sour for our liking as people from Southeast Asia. The menu barely changed, with the same things every day.

I traveled with a group, and other people complained too. The disco was very loud until 4am. I complained several times that I couldn’t sleep, but nobody seemed to care. Staff promised to turn the volume down, yet it only got worse. This place needs to decide whether it’s offering rooms for sleeping or an all-night disco. You can’t really do both.

This doesn’t deserve a four-star rating. The internet was poor and often unavailable, and the service was very bad. Staff were unfriendly and unprofessional. Smoking went on everywhere despite no-smoking signs, and when I raised it, they said they couldn’t do anything. There was loud music at 4am, and drunk people were always harassing girls. The food was above average, but nothing special.
