The Cabin Hostel

A neat, clean, well-kept hostel in downtown, close to the well-known markets and places to eat. It has a cozy feel, with private rooms and separate dorms for women and men.

No water came from the taps or shower, the reception area smelled of cigarette smoke, and I got no sleep. There'd already been nearly eight hours of construction with power tools, still going on near midnight, followed by loud talking and music. It kept going. The bed was uncomfortable, with a huge dip in the middle of the mattress, and the duvet had no cover, which felt unhygienic. The bunk had no privacy, the mattress above didn't fit its frame so the person up there could look down at me, and the board at my feet had large gaps. Someone nearby kept a phone buzzing and vibrating frequently. I'd get more sleep in a tent by a highway than here. I really don't recommend paying to stay and not sleep. I'll never return to Jordan, as this happened in Petra and Aqaba too. Jordan is an inconsiderate and lawless country.

I kept coming back because it feels like home. The staff are great, it's clean and fresh, and there's a fantastic kitchen. The air conditioning worked, I slept comfortably, and the downtown location is hard to beat for the price. Highly recommend.

The receptionists made the stay even better, they were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with questions or requests. The hostel sits right in the heart of the city center, so I could easily walk to the main sights, shops, and restaurants. A perfect location.
