Toledo Hotel

They had a parking garage, which made parking feel much easier and safer than leaving the car on the street. The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from the Citadel and theatre, and the room was clean and modern. There's also a well-equipped gym and a pool on the ground floor. We'd just come off a 9 hour flight and arrived at 6:00 in the morning. Check-in wasn't meant to be until the afternoon, so we planned to leave our bags and go out. Instead, they let us check in early, which was a huge help after the long trip. The restaurant manager also gave us free breakfast that morning. It was our first day in Jordan, and that warm welcome gave us a great first impression of the Jordanian people. Everyone at the hotel was professional and friendly. Breakfast was satisfying, with lots of choices and very high-quality food. This place had everything I could ask for, and more.

The beds were comfortable, and the hotel's older layout gives it some character, with rooms set below street level down a steep hillside. The shower was a frustration, though. Only the handheld shower worked reliably, the rain shower head didn't work, and the water temperature kept shifting from hot to cold. We also had trouble getting the room warm in winter. At first the heat blew cold air despite our requests to adjust it. Staff responded with a fan heater, but it didn't work well at first; a second one eventually got the room to a more comfortable 19-20 degrees Celsius. We're used to cooler weather in Canada, but still found the thin duvet inadequate for the season. We heard that some guests had complained of overheating, which led to the heating being turned off. The room amenities were sparse too, with only two single coffee pods and two small bottles of water. There was plenty to like: the breakfast selection was enjoyable, rooms were spacious and felt like studio suites, and the architecture and atmosphere were charming. The Toledo Hotel is also a great base for seeing Amman's main sights. It has a lot of potential, and fixing the heat and shower issues would make a big difference. I'd recommend it for the location and look, but would check on seasonal comfort before booking.

The facilities were spotless and comfortable, but what I'll remember most is how Abdulrahman and Nabil treated me. I was having a difficult issue with an external provider, and they stayed with me beyond their working hours to help. They made me feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. That kind of kindness goes well beyond good service. I'm grateful for everything.

The worst part was checking out. They held me while they searched the room to check whether everything was okay, and I felt insulted. They also took a 30 JD deposit in case of damage, which is a very bad policy. The hotel hall was super, but the TV was old and small, and the air conditioning was too loud. You also can't freely open the room window, and the floor had no carpet.
