We stayed eight nights while climbing in Wadi Rum. The tents were clean and comfortable, with a little heater and enough space for all our gear. Breakfast and dinner were included, both delicious, and the price felt like very good value. They also catered for vegetarians. Hamdan was helpful and flexible, arranging transport and a jeep tour for our rest day with a personal, family feel. The shared women’s bathroom was clean and well looked after, and the shower was always hot. It’s an easy walk to Jebel Rum and close to shops. In the evenings, it was nice meeting other climbers over a cup of Bedouin tea.

We spent hours on the sand dune and mountain rocks, watching the sunset, chatting, joking, sandboarding, and running around. The jeep tour with Mr. Hamdan was a highlight too, with sunset views, rock bridges, and great photo stops. He even made tea over a wood fire, and we got to stargaze. The landscape was incredible from our hikes and climbs. We had an amazing time at Bedouin Village Camp in Wadi Rum thanks to Mr. Hamdan (Abu Turkey) and his excellent hospitality. Highly recommended!

Having visited Wadi Rum three times, I’ve tried both the village and deep desert camping options. This camp is inside the village, about a five minute walk from mini marts, a restaurant, and the tourist car park. Coaster buses to Aqaba and Wadi Musa (Petra) leave from there, and Hamdan will even arrange to have one come to the door if you ask. The village stay is cheaper, though a tour wasn’t included. Keep in mind that once you account for the desert tour offered in most camp packages, the price gap with a desert camp may narrow. The canyon is too big to cover on foot, and landmarks are far from the village and at least 2-3 kilometers apart, so booking a tour may make sense even if you stay here. My only real complaint is the lack of towels. Otherwise, the accommodation has what you need, with the advantages and drawbacks of being in the village. Stargazing is affected by town lights: even a half hour walk in either direction won’t get you away from them, and there aren’t landmarks to block the view. That’s a small tradeoff for being near buses and services, so choose what suits you.

Hamdan, the owner, was fantastic, and the food was great. The price was really good, and the location worked perfectly for our climbing. I haven’t stayed at other Wadi Rum places, but I suspect this is the best accommodation in the village. Recommended!

The camp is spotless, including the rooms and bathroom. Hamdan was welcoming and ready to help with whatever we needed. It’s also very near jabal Rum, so walking over to climb is easy.
