I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The room smelled of cigarettes, and I first thought it was just mine, but the other rooms did too. The towels had the same smell. There’s a laminated notice in the room clearly saying not to smoke, so either people ignore it or the smell comes from something else.

The staff were extremely attentive at the event dinner, and the cream puff was the highlight for me. But at 5000 yen, I didn’t think the food was worth it. The tempura was soggy, the recipes felt dated, like they came from an 80s cookbook, and the sushi was a little discolored.

The rooms were clean and there’s an onsen at the hotel, though we didn’t go. It’s only a couple of minutes on foot from Abishiri station. The place is aging and no-frills. The rooms and hotel are clearly dated, but still functional, and the years are showing.

The staff were lovely, and the breakfast was good. It’s an old place, but neat and clean. A three-star hotel with five-star service. I’ll stay here again.

The reception staff were very friendly, and the room came with a yukata and slippers. The heater isn’t centrally controlled, and the view of the river from the room was awesome. Without luggage, it’s less than a five-minute walk, with easy access to both the JR and buses.
