Hotel Sun Abashiri

For someone relying on public transport, getting to Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park was really difficult. Google Maps wasn't clear, and I waited at the wrong stop twice in the cold, windy weather. The hotel gentleman ran about 200 meters after me to Abashiri Station and showed me the right bus stop, which was close to the wrong one. Such attentive service! He also called the free shuttle bus staff to reserve a spot for me the next morning. On 23 May 2025, he had already gone out of his way to help me reach the park and enjoy my visit, even though he couldn't speak English. Later, while I was having hot coffee in the lobby, he came over just to ask politely through Google Translate whether I'd liked the park. The staff member who checked me in in the middle of the night was helpful too. The hotel is old but very clean, and I had everything I needed. There are free drinks you can make yourself in the lobby, free laundry, utensils, and fresh towels every day. The lobby is warm and really comforting when it's so cold outside. It's very close to Abashiri Station, and the price is great for what you get. I'll stay again on my next trip 😊

It's an okay place for a night, especially since it's one of the cheapest options and very close to Abashiri Station. The building is a bit old, and the lift is small. With large luggage, only one person can fit in it. The signs don't show the hotel's English name. The room has basic facilities, and the hot water is hard to control. In the shared room there's a water dispenser, drinks, and a microwave.

We got stuck in town during the snowstorm, and the staff helped us through a difficult stretch. They're very friendly, and the customer service was excellent. The building has some history, but the room was tidy and clean. The duvet and heating kept us warm enough in the cold. Great location, and I highly recommend it.

Hotel Sun was warm even though it was freezing outside, and the hot bath was great. It's near the railway station, with a restaurant just across the road, and it's an easy walk to the river. I'd stay again.
