The baths were a lovely way to wind down each evening, with clean facilities and Hirugami’s famously smooth, skin-friendly spring water. Our room was Japanese-style, with a private bathroom and a beautiful wooden tub for a quiet soak. In the morning, we could hear birds and look out over a peaceful view. We spent three days and two nights here from November 13, 2025, while visiting the Nakasendo area. Hotel Keigetsu Shinshu Hirugami Onsen Village, Nicho-an Keigetsu is tucked into a calm, natural corner of Hirugami Onsen. There’s guest parking for about 15 cars of different sizes, which was handy since we drove. Dinner and breakfast were both highlights. The seasonal dishes were beautifully made, and the friendly servers took their time explaining each course and sharing stories about local flavors. The staff also pointed us toward nearby activities and hiking routes, which were easy for visitors to follow. The Morning Market is about a 10-minute walk away, and there’s a FamilyMart right beside the ryokan for drinks, snacks, or anything you’ve forgotten. It worked really well as a relaxing place to stay while exploring the Nakasendo area.

We got lost after arriving in Iida and didn’t reach the hotel until around 8 pm. People in town helped us get a taxi, and even though we were very late, the staff stayed up, showed us to our rooms, and explained everything so kindly. Everyone who worked there was sweet, and even the local people were lovely. We were there for about three days at the end of March this year. The room was clean, the location was great, and there’s a little 7/11-type shop just below the hotel where you can pick up snacks, even late at night. The food was fantastic, new to us, and really delicious. A Japanese man on staff spoke and understood English and was especially kind. We loved the place and wished we could have stayed longer. I’d definitely recommend it, and I hope I can come back ❤️

After dinner I realized I’d left my room key in the restaurant, then went out for a walk. The staff didn’t know where I was, but they searched inside and outside the hotel. About 45 minutes later, they found me at a convenience store and brought the key to me themselves. That was incredibly touching. I stayed one night to go stargazing in Achi Village. The hotel feels very different from the crowded, cramped modern places in urban tourist areas. It’s somewhere you can slow down and take in the atmosphere. When I arrived by car, the staff were already calling me by name. The price was reasonable, the service was top-notch, and both dinner and breakfast were quite good. I’d happily stay again and would recommend it to friends or family visiting Achi Village to see the stars.

The meals were a good fit for us: dinner was a Shinshu kaiseki menu with small servings that added up to just the right amount, and breakfast was a tasty, healthy Japanese set. The public bath had one large indoor pool and a smaller outdoor one, with no sauna. We came as a family during Golden Week and picked this hotel for its reasonable price and open-air bath options, since my parents are elderly. Our room was spacious, with a semi-open-air bath and even a mirror room. It was my first time being served matcha in the room on arrival. One of the sofas was actually a massage chair, though it was easy to miss. The room bath was big enough for two if we squeezed in, and the changing area was roomy, with a separate shower room. We were very satisfied. The TV wasn’t working, but the front desk responded quickly when I called, which helped.
