The outdoor onsen alone makes a stay at Gessen worthwhile, and the staff are so friendly. The meals were delicious too. The surrounding area has lovely valleys, forests, and rivers. All interactions are in Japanese.

The onsen was clean, with both indoor and outdoor areas. The rooms have everything you need, and the staff were really nice. A quaint, well-kept hotel.

It’s a small inn, so the bath gets crowded pretty quickly with both day visitors and guests 🥲. The location is lovely for seeing the peach blossoms.

A good place to stay, and the staff were helpful. Just pack light, since there’s no elevator and you have to carry your luggage up the stairs.
