Iwashi Building Hostel

We stayed for several nights and really enjoyed having a place to take a break. The owner was super friendly, and we could store our bicycles inside. The washing machine costs 100 yen, soap included. The semi-private rooms offered more privacy than a dorm, and from the pictures you can tell there's some space between the rooms and ceiling. Some of the negative comments were hard for us to understand. The hostel is stylish, spotless, and very well maintained.

The staff were really friendly, and the behavior rules for guests, including foreign guests, were clearly posted. Those reminders might help with problems that should usually be obvious. The hostel itself is nice and stylish, but the shared setup can be rough if your flatmates are inconsiderate. Food smells, noise through the night, and lights that reach all the rooms can make it miserable to sleep. There are only three showers for two large families, so you may wait a long time. Towels are available to rent.

The staff were helpful, and they let me dry my wet tent behind the building. The hostel is nicely designed, the beds are comfortable, and there's a lovely coffee shop on the first floor.

I'm 56, and this place is clearly geared more toward younger, savvy travelers, so I felt pretty good about how comfortable my one-night stay was. Everything was super clean, and the staff were so friendly. They made sure my bicycle was locked up safely for the night. 2024
