We ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel, and each meal was delicious. The place is brand new and everything felt just right. After comparing it with other hotels in Amakusa, we found it offered better quality for the price. I'd definitely stay here if you're looking for somewhere good in Amakusa.
The inside was fairly clean, and having the toilet separate from the bathroom made things convenient. It felt closer to a guesthouse than a hotel. I heard the parking may be on a narrow road or by a building that looks like a driving school, so check where it is. I reserved two rooms on Jalan, but one was assigned to the old Kagetsu building for some reason, with no explanation. That left a bad, rather strange impression. You can see signs of renovation in parts of the older building.
For what it costs, I found the quality very satisfying. The place and rooms are clean, with a unit bathroom, toilet, refrigerator, TV, and separate air conditioning. There's a roomy parking lot that fits motorcycles too, though it isn't covered.
Meals are shared with the other guests in the first-floor dining room. That might feel awkward if you're not used to it, but I liked the dormitory-like atmosphere and found it nostalgic. The inn itself also has that feel. My single room had its own bath and toilet, a fridge, and all the basics, so it seemed like good value. 😊 I booked one night with two meals, but the total didn't match what I'd seen during booking. It turned out the prices on the inn's own site and the accommodation booking site differed. Please watch out for that. 😨
I booked this place when I suddenly needed to go to Amakusa, expecting a business hotel, and the whole experience surprised me. An hour before checkout, at about 9 a.m., someone knocked and asked me to pay because they were leaving for a sports day. It felt really unpleasant. The slippers guests have to change into inside were dirty and gross, too. If all you need is a cheap place to sleep, it might work better to think of it as a guesthouse. I won't stay here again.
