Hotel Kawacho

Next time, I'm thinking of staying without dinner. The restaurant on the first floor serves hearty set meals, so you'd be satisfied even if you skipped the evening meal. The two dinners we had were filling, though their quality seemed to vary with the mood or atmosphere, and the alcohol, which costs extra, went well with them. I found Kawacho while looking for a one-night, two-day business trip stay. It's an old-fashioned inn with a sea view and a bathhouse, and the price was more than reasonable. Thanks for the meal!

I couldn't get used to the sweet sashimi soy sauce, so I had Kanto soy sauce instead. The staff were very friendly, and I'd definitely come back to this restaurant if I visit Amakusa again. I stopped in while car camping from Tokyo. The sashimi was fresh, thickly cut, and delicious, and the boiled fish was filling and tasty too.

My room looked out over the ocean, and the view was lovely. There was free Wi-Fi too. The place is older, including the bathroom, but it was kept as clean as possible. The rooms don't have auto-locks. Parking is along the national highway in front of the hotel, which can make pulling out tricky when traffic is busy. There are no barrier-free facilities, so it may not suit elderly guests or people with disabilities.

The inn is old, but everything in the room and around the property was spotless. We were caught in torrential rain, with flooding along the way, and I wasn't sure we'd even get there. I'm really glad we made it, though. The fish was incredible, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious and satisfying. The staff were friendly and chatty, although they sometimes didn't explain things very well. It was still within acceptable limits.
