Daiwa Roynet Hotel Aomori

The location is great, just a short walk from Aomori station, the Nebuta Museum, and plenty of other attractions. I’ve also stayed at another Daiwa location on the other side of Japan, and had the same consistent experience. On this latest visit I booked a suite and a single room. Both were comfortable, with plenty of room to stretch out, and the suite had amenities I’d expect in a four- or five-star hotel. The rooms here are spacious, and the staff are professional and courteous. What matters most to me is feeling at home, which I rarely do in the small, stuffy hotels that are common here. Daiwa is an exception. I felt comfortable and at home throughout my stay.

The room itself is standard in size, so there isn’t much floor space for open suitcases. Still, the bathroom is spacious and comfortable, which is my favorite Daiwa Roynet feature. The lobby amenities were a nice touch too, especially the quality bath powders, creams, and lotions. This hotel is very convenient and good value. I stay at this chain often, and this branch kept up its high standards. It’s a bit of a walk from the station, but manageable. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is great.

The room was bright, with a comfortable bed and good furnishings. The bathroom was spacious and had plenty of bench space, and asking by phone for extra pillows was no trouble. It’s about a ten-minute walk from the station in winter. What let the hotel down was the reception staff. They seemed robotic and lacked warmth and empathy, which really affected my impression. Management needs to address this with more training.

The room was excellent and clean, and I slept really well. The check-in guy was nice. I’d stay here again when I return to Aomori, since cleanliness is the most important thing to me in a hotel. The check-out lady couldn’t answer a basic question about the snowstorm-related transportation closures. Thank goodness I didn’t follow her advice to walk to the station with my luggage in the snowfall. It was closed. She kept telling me to go there and ask in person, which would have wasted my time walking through the snow with my bags. Please don’t advise other guests that way.
