Business Hotel Tetuya

The rate is cheap, and the rooms are clean. The building’s old, which I actually liked. It’s near enough to the station to walk, but there’s no elevator and the hotel closes at 11 p.m. The bath is small, so washing up in it can be a bit awkward.

In January my room stayed cold even with the air conditioning running, and the futons felt a little thin, which was disappointing. Otherwise, it’s handy for meals: the station is close, the supermarket is about a 10-minute walk, and there are several izakayas nearby. The room has a fridge and kettle, with a microwave out in the hallway. Towels, a yukata, toothbrushes and razors are provided, like the usual business hotel basics.

The Japanese-style room was comfortable enough that I slept well, even though the place is old. The entrance gets locked at 11 p.m., so it won’t suit anyone who stays out late. Could work well for families with kids.

On snowy days, I always choose this hotel. They clear the snow from the road to the parking lot, which helps a lot. The rooms are clean too, though the bathtub is on the small side.
