Fukunae House - Hostel

The woman who runs this place was incredibly kind. She even lent me her bicycle and said I could bring it back whenever, including after I’d checked out. The house was clean and nice, with all the basic amenities I expected, and the price felt unbelievably low. Right next to Takeda Station, it was perfect for one night on my backpacking trip.

This was my second stay, and just looking out from my room made me feel relaxed. Miss Kitamura and her assistant are very friendly and kind. It’s tough carrying heavy luggage upstairs, but you can manage by taking it one trip at a time. I wanted to see the owner again after my 2018 visit, and I was glad to find her healthy and well. My room cost more this time, probably because I booked a double room and the charge was for two people. That felt a little high since this isn’t a hotel, but I didn’t mind. I recommend staying here if you want to visit Takedajo and see the real floating castle in the clouds, with its incredible sea of clouds.

Takeda is a lovely spot to visit in Japan. The house is really spacious and a good place to stay for a night.

A kind host, a clean house, and a fair price. A good option if you need somewhere for one night before visiting Takeda castle the next morning.
