The owner told me the inn has been running for 110 years. It has a classic Japanese style and a welcoming atmosphere, and an older couple run the place. I stayed for one night, Jan 24-25, and both dinner and breakfast were exceptional. On checkout morning, heavy snow was falling, so the owner offered me a ride to the train station. 10/10, absolute GOAT.

We stayed here to visit Takeda Castle and Ritsuunkyo Mountain, just one train stop away. The owners were genuinely friendly, polite, and chatty. Our traditional Japanese-style room was very clean. The bathroom was separate, but we had it to ourselves, and the bath can be used privately or shared with the person in your room. It was a comfortable stay. It was raining when we left, and the owners kindly drove us to the station. We’ll definitely come back in spring ☺️

We came in January, when few places nearby were open for winter, and the owners took us in and took extra care of my sick friend. They warmed the rooms and futons before we arrived and prepared baths for us. They’re really kind, flexible, and thoughtful with their guests, and they recommended a great restaurant nearby.

The lady who owns the ryokan went out of her way to make our stay memorable. She even drove us to the Takeda Castle viewpoint at 5am. The owners are so nice that it feels like staying at home. We ordered kaiseki dinner, and it was great. The Japanese-style room is in a beautiful, undiscovered part of Japan. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The staff were lovely, and the traditional rooms were nice, but the toilets are shared. There’s only one men’s bath and shower and one women’s, so you have to wait if they’re occupied. I waited an hour. After hiking for three hours on a cold day, I’d been looking forward to a proper shower and soak. But with dinner at a set time, I would’ve missed it, so I could only take a rushed shower. I thought we were getting crab for dinner, but there wasn’t any, even though I noticed other guests had crab. Not sure what happened there. It’s not far from the station, but the walk feels long when you’re carrying heavy luggage. If you’re going to the Takeda castle ruins, new entries stop early, at 1300, even though information online says it’s open until 1600.
