Tabist THE GREEN ASAHIKAWA

The room had a very unpleasant smell. Although I chose a non-smoking option, I'm 100% sure people had smoked there. It felt shady and old, and the booking site pictures didn't match what we got, so be careful. This was my third time in Japan, and the first time I've felt this disappointed. I only needed somewhere to sleep overnight, so I didn't really explore the area and can't say much about the location. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The room and toilet are very small, but they do the job.

The hotel provides all the basic complimentary items, and it's about a 10-15 minute walk from the station. We requested an early check-in and only wanted to leave our luggage, but there was no one at reception. A note said it opened at 10 a.m., so we had to go back to the station to find a locker. When we returned in the evening to check in, reception was empty again. We rang the bell several times and waited seven minutes before someone came.

The location was convenient, with Pizza Hut, a coin laundry, and a 7-11 within walking distance, and paid parking at the hotel gave us a secure option for our car. We stayed in a Japanese Style Room for five from December 15 to 17, 2023, with a shared bathroom. Even so, I can't recommend Tabist THE GREEN ASAHIKAWA to families or anyone who wants a comfortable, secure stay. The room was too cramped for four people and five 28" suitcases. We had overlooked that the bathroom and toilet were shared. For women, reaching the facilities at night meant walking through common areas, which felt uncomfortable and affected privacy. Taking children there in the middle of the night was inconvenient and raised safety concerns, especially given the hotel's general security issues. We could hear conversations from the next room and streetcar sounds, making it hard to rest. The window blinds were only two pieces with gaps between them, so we felt exposed and thought people might see into the room. There was no night light, which made it difficult to get around after dark and added to the discomfort. The hotel seemed run-down in terms of security, and that, along with the privacy issues, left us without the sense of safety we'd expect. For families with lots of luggage or anyone prioritizing comfort and security, the tight space, shared facilities, poor soundproofing, and safety concerns made the stay disappointing.
