Yagurumasou

We really like this onsen. The bathing and changing areas both have hot spring water, and the baths are separated by gender. On the women's side, there are three indoor pools at different temperatures and a cold spring pool beside the sauna. Outside, a nice rotenburo sits among lush trees. One side has an electric current area, and the strong current gives your body a good stimulation. We loved it. The receptionist welcomed us, served two cups of water, and said it would help remove toxins from the body after bathing.

Nice Ryoukan! The people were really nice, and the room was spacious with about three living rooms. There was ping-pong, plus onsens indoors and out. ^____^

I came for a day trip to use the hot springs. The water quality was good, and the receptionist was pleasant, but the condition of the place was a real letdown. The building is very old, and the bathroom leaked in several places. A net on the ceiling had mud collecting on it, and rain came through, leaving the area quite dirty. There were old razors that had gone white, along with facial cleansers, razors, and body soaps that seemed to belong to regular customers. The outdoor bath was only around 25-30 degrees Celsius, hardly warm at all when it was 23 degrees outside. I feel there are plenty of improvements they could make without spending money. Management's failure to address them makes it seem like they have no passion for the hot springs. Some regular customers also behaved badly and made phone calls in the bath. It's a shame, given how good the water is.

The water quality is excellent, I think. This is a free-flowing spring with no heating, added water, circulation, or disinfection. It feels pleasantly slippery, sits at a comfortable temperature, and has a sulfur smell with mineral deposits floating in it. It seems to be a radon spring. There's a roomy indoor bath with a botanical garden-like feel and plenty of water, plus an outdoor bath with an electric bath. Cups are available if you want to drink the spring water.
