The location is great, and the staff are fine with English. Just know there's only one toilet for all the guests, and the walls are paper-thin, so you can hear your neighbors.

The owner shared useful tips about the neighborhood, so we managed shopping and sightseeing without trouble. MaxValu is a good grocery option, though a bit far away. For a hot spring, you can visit the large public bath at a nearby business hotel for the day. We were eight friends and had a relaxed stay. The bathroom sink was a little small and awkward to use, but otherwise we didn't run into any particular inconveniences.

My first hostel stay in Japan, and I got lucky with a booking during the fireworks festival. The tatami room had a comfortable mattress and pillows, and both the room and bathroom were very clean. They have double and triple rooms.

The room was a bit of a letdown because it was very dark, unlike the photos. Still, service and cleanliness were impeccable. Even with a shared shower, toilet and sinks, everything looked as clean as new.
