The meals were high quality, and with the spacious rooms and traditional Japanese hospitality, the stay felt comfortable with a touch of luxury. The facilities were excellent and relaxing, making this one of the highlights of our onsen trip in Japan. It's very family-friendly and a good fit for travellers after a classic onsen ryokan in Fukui.

We really enjoyed Italian restaurant salute, some of the best Italian food we had on the whole trip. Don't miss it! The onsen was beautiful, with lots of different baths, though every one was very hot. The hotel itself was very nice, and breakfast was great, especially the French toast with real maple syrup. The traditional room felt a bit basic for the price. We spent one night at Hasegawa hotel afterward, where the room was half the price and absolutely modern and beautiful, but the onsen there definitely wasn't as good.

The dinner and breakfast buffets were enjoyable, especially the crab, shrimp, and other seafood. The indoor and outdoor hot springs were fantastic too. One thing felt quite strange, though: like another reviewer mentioned, a woman cleaner tried to chat with naked men in the dressing room. It's a classic hot springs hotel in Awara hot springs resort, and we visited with family. The hotel is near the Japan sea, but our room didn't have a good view. It was cleaned well overall, though there was room to improve, for example, a bin hadn't been emptied.

The onsen was spacious, relaxing, and offered plenty of options. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent, especially the all-you-can-eat crab at dinner. I stayed in April 2019. The room was a reasonable size, and the hotel shuttle from JR Awaraonsen station took 10 min. A very good place, away from the city.
