APA Hotel Beppu Ekimae

Getting around Beppu is easy from here: the station is a three-minute walk away, and there’s a huge supermarket nearby. The room was clean, with good quality amenities, though it was small, as is common in Japan. I wasn’t keen on the bed or pillows. There are three washing machines for ¥300 and dryers for ¥100.

I was disappointed by the luggage delivery service. The evening staff weren’t welcoming, and they measured two of our suitcases incorrectly, which led to an unexpected fee. There’s also no free mineral water refill dispenser. The location is excellent, though, right by Beppu Station and surrounded by shops and restaurants.

Beppu Station is just a one to two minute walk away, which is very handy. The room looked modern, but cleanliness needs attention: I found a hair on the pillow and a piece of product wrapping under the bed. The staff were nice, though they couldn’t answer a basic sightseeing question about which bus to take to Yufuin and sent us to ask at the bus stop by the station. For an onsen, you’ll need to visit a public one elsewhere.

The hotel is an easy three to four minute walk from the station, and the ocean is about 15 minutes away on foot. I stayed for three days and found the room clean, with daily cleaning and fresh supplies, including towels, soap, cups, tea, water, and toothbrush and toothpaste. The shampoo and conditioner were great, the bed was comfortable, the internet reliable, and the bath relaxing. There’s an onsen and a restaurant too, but my schedule was too busy to try either. I’d stay here again when I’m next in Beppu city.
