Beppu Station Hotel

A pretty standard Japanese business hotel, very close to the station, you can see it from there. There’s a public bath, but no coin laundry on site. There is a laundromat just down the alley.

Weekends cost 8,900¥, which feels very reasonable. The hotel and rooms are aged and nothing fancy, but the price is fair and the room does the job for sleeping. The natural hot spring has a good, free-flowing supply. If you want a fancy hotel, this won’t be for you. For a reasonably priced stay with a good public bath, it’s a solid choice.

Being right by the train station made it easy to get everywhere. The room was tiny and smelled a little of smoke, but I knew all the rooms allowed smoking, and opening the window helped. The bathroom was a decent size, with really nice bath products. For the great price, you get a clean place to sleep and a lot of extras. The free onsen was a big plus, clean, and I never saw anyone else there. Staff English wasn't great, but check-in and check-out went smoothly. It's not luxurious, though perfectly fine for a night. I'd consider staying again.

The rooms feel like they're from the Shōwa era, and the hotel is dusty and moldy with a toilet-like smell. The woman at reception was very disrespectful, especially toward foreign customers. It didn't feel pleasant at all.
