Business Hotel Star

The hotel is close to the station, but you can hear the noise with the window open. Closing it makes things quieter. We booked three rooms while traveling with friends, and two smelled of smoke despite being non-smoking. At times, smoke from people in other rooms came in through the open window. The rooms themselves were clean and spacious.

It's just a few steps from Beppu Station, with free guest parking behind the building. The building is old, but the rooms and furniture looked very clean and we had no problems with them. A set breakfast is available for an extra ¥900. Tea, water, and coffee vending machines are on the 3rd and 5th floors for use all day. The coffee isn't good, but it's free, so no complaints. Rooms have the basics: soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels, a hairdryer, a small fridge, and yukata. The hotel doesn't have its own public bath, but guests can use the onsen at its sister hotel, “Sea Wave,” across the station. It's well worth the price and highly recommended.

It's right beside the train station, and there's a supermarket about a minute's walk away. Free parking is behind the hotel, and the price felt fair. The building is aged, but the stay was comfortable, with a clean, bright room. They also offer free sauna access at a nearby sister hotel.

The room came with breakfast, and it was delicious. It's a good size by Japanese business hotel standards. The location is perfect, next to the train station and close to the market street.
