Suihou Ogura

It was very cold in February, and the receptionists started by explaining the available hot baths, which was great. Dinner was a full course, followed by breakfast the next morning, both using local produce prepared with traditional onsen steam cooking. Our room had traditional Japanese furnishings like tatami mats, wooden floorboards, and sliding panels. The whole stay felt authentic, and we were grateful for the hospitality.

The blue hot spring was amazing, and the food was great too. The staff were all so friendly and made sure everything went smoothly. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back.

The building has a lovely artistic character, and the staff were easy to talk to. They shared useful sightseeing information, which I appreciated. I came on a friend's recommendation and found the hot springs very relaxing. They seemed to ease my fatigue and improve my skin, so I recommend Teruyu. I'd like to return with family or friends if I get the chance.

My husband and I came back for a second visit, though once again we only stopped by for the baths and didn't stay overnight. The place has the atmosphere of a long-established, upscale ryokan, and even our short visit made us feel like celebrities, lol. There are eight private baths, with overnight guests given priority. Day-use sessions cost 1,500 yen or 2,000 yen for 45 minutes, which feels incredibly cheap. Before 2 PM, there usually aren't many overnight guests booked into the baths, so there's plenty of availability. The water is slightly milky and feels smooth. After trying it, I'm keen to stay at Beppu Ogura next time.
